New York, the city that never sleeps. We have all heard that line a million times, but unless you really know what to do, the city can be quite overwhelming. You ask someone in New York for directions and they look at you like your nuts. How could you not know where this or that is? Here are a few tips on exactly what to do on your next trip to New York City.
Eat – If there was ever a place that you needed to walk into as many restaurants as possible, it is New York. There are few cities that can boast the cuisine that New York has and when you are there, you must absolutely take advantage of it. One of the old favorites is Becco (355 West 46th Street). This is a great Italian restaurant that is owned by the infamous Lidia Matticchio. If you are smart, you will show up early and get a great seat to order the 3 course pasta menu. Flip the menu over and order a bottle of wine off of the $20 list and you have the perfect evening.
See a Show – You cannot go to New York without seeing one of the many incredible shows. Whether you decide to go Broadway or Off Broadway does not matter. You will be seeing the best of the best in live stage performers and it will be an experience that you will not soon forget. If you want to save a few dollars, go to a matinee before dinner and then spend the rest of the night roaming around town.
Take a Walk in the Park – What is a trip to New York without a quick jaunt through Central Park? This is a great place to ride a bike, take a carriage ride or just walk around holding hands. If it is the winter time, bring your skates and have a little fun. The scenery is great and to have this little oasis in the middle of a city like New York is truly something special. Enjoy it while you can.
Enjoy a Nightcap – After a long day in the big city, you are going to need to relax with a nice cocktail. There is simply no better place that Flute (205 West 54th Street). This swanky little lounge will bring you back in time and allow you to truly relax. Soft sofas and a private room on request, they have the finest of champagnes on tap and just about everything else that you can imagine. It is like taking a step back in time to the old jazz café’s. Keep this one a secret though, as we don’t want to spoil a good thing.
If people tell you that you are going to spend a ton of cash in New York, all you have to do is show them this agenda. You are getting the best that the city has to offer for very little money. Good times are to be had at discounted prices, you just have to know where to look! |
